The crucial role of bees to preserve biodiversity

Bees and other pollinating insects play a vital role in biodiversity and agriculture. Without bees there are no pollinating crops that end up as food on our dinner tables.

All over the world honeybee populations are dramatically declining, mainly due to harmful and extensive use of pesticides and biodiversity destruction, associated with this decline. The falling has significantly increased in recent years and affects countries and regions in which agriculture is industrialised: Europe, South and North America, Asia and even some African countries.
